This is Cecelia Pauline,
Welcome to a New School Year 2025-2026. I am your child’s Special Educator. I have done my Master’s degree in Special Education and with 16 years of teaching experience. I am very excited to have your child in my class. I have high expectations for your child(ren), and with your assistance, we can make your child’s school year a productive one. I cannot wait to get to know your child, and find out how they can learn best. I am looking forward to seeing the progress your child will make this year. Courses Description:
The Special Education class at Hope Academy is designed to develop, strengthen, and improve skills for positive academic and behavior performance and achievement. Through content area course work, pre- and post- teaching, cognitive learning strategies are taught which focus on comprehension and memory skills, organizational and study skills, test taking, and the enhancements of written expression. Self-advocacy skills and transitional planning are also part of the instructional program. Scholar’s progress is monitored and reviewed throughout the year according to their IEPs (Individual Educational Plans). Special Education classroom provide the scholars with the proper skills that are necessary to succeed in the classroom and across content area courses and behavior skills. Individual and small group instruction with content area course work will be given along with preparation for tests and quizzes.
Required Textbook: Standards are followed in Math and ELA according to South Carolina state and indicators on par with general education.
Required Materials and Resources:- Pencils
- Pens (black or blue ink)
- Loose leaf paper
- Highlighter
- Box of tissue
- Hand sanitizer
Reporting of Grades: All grades will be updated to their home school in every 9 weeks.
Attendance: Scholars are expected to be in attendance each day and complete all assignments. Scholars must arrive on time and remain in school the entire day. Attendance will be taken daily. Failure to meet attendance expectations may interfere with the parent, scholar and administration meeting.
Submission of Work: All scholars will be allowed asynchronous time during the instructional day to complete assignments. In addition, some assignments may require time outside of the school day (homework, research, shadowing, internships, etc) for successful completion. All assignments are due in accordance with the dates provided by the teacher. Upon returning to school with an excuse, the student is required to contact the teacher to obtain all missed assignments.
Classroom Rules:
- Be on time, enter quietly and be seated in your assigned seats.
- Please give mutual respect for teachers and peers.
- Please keep the classroom premises neat and clean.
- Please pay attention and obey the school rules.
- Please follow teacher’s instructions.
- Please work together and share instructions.
- Please use appropriate language and voice level.
- Please allow others the best opportunity to learn.
- Food and drinks are not allowed in the classroom under any circumstances.
- Cell phones are not allowed in the classroom under any circumstances.
- Please remember that the teacher will dismiss the class, not the bell.
Class Procedure: Use restroom, sharpen your pencils and remove all earbuds and all electronic devices before class starts.
Consequences for violating classroom expectations/ procedures are listed below; however, the course of action depends on the offense committed.
- First Offense: Verbal Warning.
- Second Offense: Conference with scholar
- Third Offense: Notify parent and discuss possible solutions to the problem.
- Fourth Offense: Contact parent once again and make every effort to resolve the problem.
- Fifth Offense: Refer the scholar to Behavior Interventionist or RBHS counselor.
- Sixth Offense: Referral to the administrator for noncompliance.
Special Note: Food and drinks are not allowed in the classroom under any circumstances.
Cell phones are not allowed in the classroom for any reason whatsoever.
