District Employees Participated in State Association Contest

Three District Cafeteria Managers, Lucy Nesmith, Patricia McClary and Jennifer Myers Grant, competed in the School Nutrition Association’s Chop Contest in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This team of professionals won 3rd place and were awarded a monetary incentive for their accomplishment.

According to Food Services Director, Nicole Giles, this was the first time Williamsburg County School District participated in this contest that challenged participates to be creative and work collaboratively to create a tasty meal using school approved ingredients. The WCSD’s team created a Williamsburg County Barbeque Slidder, a garden salad with vinaigrette dressing and a Brown Flapjack Cake with blueberries and apples.

“I’m elated that we placed in this contest against larger and more affluent districts across South Carolina. Our managers are awesome and eager to learn. I know that winning this contest inspired them, and I believe that they felt well-accomplished by this honor,” Giles said.
