Local Civic Organization Partners with School District

Kingstree Rotarians partnered with district elementary schools to provide new shoes to students as a part of their “Happy Feet” Project.

Sixty elementary students in Williamsburg County School District benefited from this initiative on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Shoe Show in Kingstree, South Carolina. Students were appreciative of the kindness shown to them by members of this civic organization, and one student shared that it was the first time he was able to choose a pair of shoes that he really wanted.

Student leaders from Williamsburg Academy provided assistance to students, and after students selected their favorite shoes, they sat attentively while a member of Rotary read a book to them about the importance of being kind-hearted and thankful.

President of Kingstree Rotary, Attorney Ernie Jarrett, was also onsite during this thoughtful event and worked diligently throughout the day helping elementary students.

According to Rotarian, Toni Ward, education has always been important to local Rotarians, and members are very passionate about helping teachers and students because they realize that it takes a community, working together, to improve local educational systems.

Shauna Mack, Principal of Hemingway Elementary School, shared that students were very excited to receive new shoes, and parents were humbled by this act of kindness.

Rotarians provide service to others, promote integrity, goodwill, and peace in communities across the globe.
