On September 27, 2019, students at Hemingway Elementary were engaged with the presentation facilitated by students from the S. C. State University’s Call Me MiSTER program (acronym for Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models), directed by Dr. Rashad Anderson. The Call Me MiSTER program strives to recruit male college students that aspire to be educators. The MiSTERs engaged Hemingway Elementary students in a whole group session where they discussed goal setting, bullying, and making good decisions. The male students at Hemingway Elementary School also participated in brotherhood circles where they discussed issues relevant to them, their daily lives, and their futures. To finalize their visit, the MiSTERs escorted the boys to lunch where they continued their mentoring conversations.
Thank you to the Dr. Anderson and MiSTERs of South Carolina State University for yet, “Another Great Day at Hemingway Elementary!”
