South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics in partnership with Williamsburg County School District will be offering a summer day camp for rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders interested in computer science and technology. Students will have the opportunity to explore the world of microcontrollers, electronics and circuits through Arduino technology. The camp will take place on June 17-20, 2019 from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. daily at Kingstree Middle School. Thanks to support from our partners and sponsors full scholarships are being provided for Williamsburg County School District students to attend. The district will provide lunch and transportation. Williamsburg County School District is now accepting applications for children who turn 4 years old on or before September 1, 2019. Student screening to identify readiness levels is required prior to placement. Parents, you will need to complete a 2019-2020 enrollment application. If your child is accepted, you will be notified. Anitra Williams, a 3rd Grade Teacher at Hemingway Elementary School, will be attending the Science P.L.U.S Instititue this summer in Greenville, SC. Ms. Williams will take part in a physical science course designed for 3rd grade students. Congratulations Ms. Williams!
Kimberlyn McKnight, student at Kingstree Middle Magnet School of the Arts (KMMSA), receives a PERFECT SCORE on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) Reading Test. This accomplishment qualifies her to be a SC Junior Scholar. She will be recognized and receive an Award of Merit Certificate from the SC Department of Education.
Janae Dorsey, a senior at Kingstree High School, has been selected to receive the highly coveted Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, a merit-based program established in 1988 to recognize the most academically talented high school seniors and encourage these students to attend college in the State.
