It’s National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2019!

Everyone must do their part to make sure that our online data is kept safe and secure.

Here are a few tips that will help protect our network from virus attacks:

    • Be careful when opening Zip attachments from SPAM e-mails that appear in your email inbox.
    • Use strong passwords.  Passwords should be changed on a frequency between 30 to 90 days.
    • Do not accept any file downloads while performing work-related web browsing.
    • While at work or home, use USB pin drives with caution.
    • Use your district email for work-related purposes only.  Never use your personal email address while at work.
    • Always properly exit web pages when you are finished with web activity.
    • Use a pop-up blocker to prevent unwanted pages from popping up when browsing the web.
    • Do not download software---especially free software—(malware can also come in downloadable games, file-sharing programs, and customized toolbars).  Poor browsing habits are leading contributors to malware infections.
    • Do not open attachments in unsolicited emails, even if they come from people in your contact list. Never click on a URL contained in an unsolicited email, even if you think it looks safe. Instead, close out the email and go to the organization’s website directly.

Do not share personal information online without encrypting your data.
